TLDR; de Havilland DH.82 Tiger Moth — The Trainer That Taught a Generation to Fly

The de Havilland DH.82 Tiger Moth was one of the most important primary training aircraft of the 1930s and 1940s. Used extensively by the Royal Air Force and Commonwealth air forces, it taught thousands of pilots the fundamentals of military flying before they advanced to more powerful aircraft.

Simple, lightweight, and highly maneuverable, the Tiger Moth was ideal for teaching takeoffs, landings, aerobatics, navigation, and formation flying. After World War II, large numbers entered civilian service as trainers, private aircraft, and airshow performers, helping make the Tiger Moth one of the most recognizable and enduring training aircraft of its era.
