Valiant Air Command Announces Arrival of U.S. Navy C-2 Greyhound

Valiant Air Command, Inc. is excited to announce that a U.S. Navy Grumman C-2 Greyhound will be joining the museum's collection, with the aircraft scheduled to arrive at Space Coast Regional Airport on July 27, 2026.

Even more exciting, the aircraft will be arriving by air, giving visitors and aviation enthusiasts a rare opportunity to witness the final flight of an aircraft that faithfully served the United States Navy for decades.

A Vital Link to the Fleet

The C-2 Greyhound served as the U.S. Navy's primary Carrier Onboard Delivery (COD) aircraft. Developed from the E-2 Hawkeye airframe, the Greyhound was designed to transport personnel, mail, cargo, and mission-critical supplies between shore installations and aircraft carriers operating around the world.

For more than 50 years, C-2 crews ensured that deployed carrier strike groups remained supplied with everything from aircraft parts and maintenance equipment to mail from loved ones back home. The aircraft's ability to land aboard aircraft carriers and carry large loads made it an indispensable component of naval aviation logistics.

From the Fleet to the Museum

The aircraft joining the Valiant Air Command collection comes from Fleet Logistics Support Squadron FOUR ZERO (VRC-40), known as the "Rawhides." Based at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, VRC-40 has supported fleet logistics operations around the globe and continues a proud tradition of service within naval aviation.

As the Navy transitions from the C-2 Greyhound to the CMV-22B Osprey for the carrier onboard delivery mission, opportunities to preserve these historic aircraft become increasingly important. By bringing this aircraft to Titusville, Valiant Air Command will help ensure that future generations can learn about the critical role the Greyhound played in supporting America's carrier fleet.

Preserving Aviation History

The addition of the C-2 Greyhound represents another important step in Valiant Air Command's mission to preserve, display, and educate the public about military aviation history.

The aircraft will join a collection of more than 50 historic military aircraft, each representing the service, sacrifice, innovation, and dedication of the men and women who flew and maintained them.

We are honored to preserve this aircraft and its story for future generations.

Stay Tuned

Over the coming weeks, we will share additional updates, photographs, and details about the aircraft's arrival and plans for its future at the museum.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the United States Navy, the men and women of VRC-40 "Rawhides," and all those who have worked to make this transfer possible.

We look forward to welcoming the C-2 Greyhound to its new home at Valiant Air Command, Inc. on July 27, 2026.

What an incredible addition to the museum's collection! The C-2 Greyhound played such an important role in supporting carrier operations, and seeing its final flight into Space Coast Regional Airport will be a special moment for aviation enthusiasts. Preserving historic aircraft like this helps future generations appreciate naval aviation history. Reading stories about iconic machines and their legacy is as enjoyable as revisiting Crossy Road , a classic casual game that continues to entertain players year after year.
